Absolutely beautiful. The shop is an awesome place to stay; the furniture, vintage decorations/equipment/tools were a blast to look at. The pics of the family’s local history is also really cool. I must say, between the lodging, and the host Cheryl, we couldn’t have been more satisfied. Cheryl is an unbelievable representation of her family and local community. She went above and beyond to make my family feel welcome and at home. Chip off the old block! Thanks again, I’ve recommended you to many of my friends. God Bless!

This was my 5th visit to Cheryl’s property and, once again, everything was perfect. Hers is a very special and unique property and she has done an outstanding job preserving the history and the integrity of the property while being very attentive to minimizing the impact to the beautiful land. As a retired natural resource manager, I compliment Cheryl for her business acumen and her commitment to the property and surrounding grounds. Places like this will bring people to the area and stimulate the local economy. Already planning my next trip!!

We cooked, we ate, we laughed, we relaxed, we walked around the grounds, and we hiked up the newly-blazed trail to a gorgeous view. But mostly, we just enjoyed being together in this cozy and comfy place. It was exactly what I was hoping for. The unique and historic Calico Chicken House just suited our sensibilities. Cheryl could not have been more welcoming, hospitable, and kind. I am so moved by the incredible way she is honoring her family’s legacy. And that only made us appreciate our own memories more, as we celebrated a college graduation and two birthdays during this trip. I am filled with gratitude and would go back there in a heartbeat!

“A wonderful vacation among the idyllic wheat fields of eastern Washington! If you have wondered what farm life is like beyond roadside social media photos, then book a stay at Stella’s Homestead. You get the quiet beauty of being in the middle of miles of farmland, without doing the hard work of farming! What a gift Cheryl has made of sharing this farm experience—a balance of modern comfort and historic machinery. A clean and inviting sanctuary to enjoy a way of living few get to ever know—stars at night, sitting by the river outside the back door, roaming around huge spaces that aren’t parks. And of course there was a deer grazing in the wheat field to greet us when we arrived! Because the place is magical.”

“Sometimes lodging is a place to stay while on vacation. Sometimes lodging is so special that it becomes the vacation. The latter was our experience at Stella’s Homestead. Imagine sitting on an Adirondack chair on the back patio in the morning, listening to Coppei Creek nearby. Cheryl is a cosmopolitan host who represents a high level of hospitality to which Airbnb could aspire. Calico’s Chicken House is well-designed with everything we wanted, and no clutter.”

“I stayed with Cheryl for several days on a turkey hunting trip and had a wonderful time. The accommodations are super nice and I loved the history of the farm. Cheryl is definitely a super host. One of my favorite places that I have stayed. I will definitely stay again when I come back in the future.”

“Very nice, we went for honeymoon and host left us a bottle of champagne. Kitchen had everything I could think of, and the whole place reminded me of my family home in Oregon. Very comfy, inviting, and the host is very kind and down to earth.”
